Social Responsibility…..have you ever come across this word atleast by chance?

This is one of the things that WE lack even though we assume ourselves as knowledgable persons.CHAMALAPURA….Friends some of you might have already heard about this,if not letme just come to the point what i want to convey….

Chamalapura is a small village near mysore(just 15 km aerial distance)

The issue is a THERMAL POWER PLANT is comin up in the region.

Usually such plants are set up at barren lands such that the amount of disruptions caused is minimal.

We are not against the project BUT DEFINITELY AGAINST ITS LOCATION

why????

coz

1.As per world wide study a 1000 MW plant causes a rise in temperature upto 30 miles of about 3-5 degree.

(mysore is just about 15 kms from the site and plant capacity will be gradually brought upto 1600MW and imagine Mysore at 42deg durin summer…this will be a disaster)

2.The displacment of THOUSANDS OF FARMERS in surroundin area which is plush green fertile land is huge.Due to the fly ash released bye the plant Photosynthesis process will DEFINITELY get affected.(Imagine the irriparable damage we do for the surroundin FARMING COMMUNITY

3.Its a catchment area for RIVER KABINI which eventually joins our JEEVANADI CAUVERY.The ash content dissolves in rain water and joins the river and finally be a part of the water which comes out of the tap in YOUR house(even in bangalore).Also this will cause the ground water quality to be depreciated in and around mysore.

4.With forest covers like Bandipur,Nagarahole and wynad just around 50 kms from the site,this project was officially said ENVIRONMENTALLY NOT VIABLE years back.Still its been taken up coz its a 6200 crore project and stakes involved in this is in hundreds of crores.
